Hillsdale Enhances Its Core Offering, Hires Harry Marmer to Lead Institutional Investment Services

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 25, 2008) - Hillsdale Investment Management is pleased to announce that Harry Marmer has joined the firm as Executive Vice President, Institutional Investment Services and Partner. Mr. Marmer will work directly with investors and consultants to provide investment strategies tailored to their core needs and requirements. Mr. Marmer will also play a key role as a senior member of Hillsdale's management committee, having direct input into the strategic direction of the firm.

"Hillsdale exhibits all the critical ingredients required of a premier alpha shop. I am extremely excited to be joining such a forward thinking independent firm," says Mr. Marmer. "The firm's investment philosophy, process and people are closely aligned with my own observations as to the key success factors of leading edge investment firms. Hillsdale has an excellent mix of traditional, advanced equity and alternative investment strategies as well as the capability to create custom strategies to meet the specific needs and requirements of sophisticated institutional investors. Hillsdale's attitude towards proprietary research, which is the lifeblood of the firm, is unparalleled. These are some of the key reasons why I joined Hillsdale."

"We are thrilled to have Harry on the Hillsdale team," says Chris Guthrie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hillsdale. "Harry has the knowledge, experience and thoughtful leadership that our institutional investors have asked for and his hiring significantly increases our commitment to this channel. Hillsdale has proven success generating alpha, managing beta and working within a return on risk framework. Applying these concepts to our Equity Plus, Enhanced Index or 130/30 mandates is a natural evolution of our skill set."

"The growing appetite for diverse sources of alpha, the increasingly quantitative orientation of the institutional arena and the greater appreciation of the importance of a rigorous risk management framework will prove to be very favorable for Hillsdale because these are the tenets upon which the firm has been built." continues Mr. Marmer.

Mr. Marmer has more than 20 years of experience working with institutional investors in Canada and the US. Most recently, Mr. Marmer served for six years as Senior Vice President, Institutional Investment Services with Franklin Templeton Investment Canada. Previously, he was Director at Russell Investment Group, Canada. Prior to that, he was Principal of Mercer Investment Consulting in Canada.

Mr. Marmer is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder. He is a recipient of the Volunteer of Distinction award given by the CFA Society and is a past President of CFA Society Toronto. He is a frequent conference speaker, has had more than 40 research articles published, and is the author of the popular book Perspectives on Institutional Investment Management. He holds a B.B.A and an M.B.A with a concentration in finance and investment from York University.

The hiring of Mr. Marmer marks the end of Hillsdale's successful relationship with Twenty-First Century Investments Inc. Twenty-First Century has represented Hillsdale to the Canadian institutional and consultant marketplace since June 2003. Hillsdale will continue in its role as sub-advisor to Twenty-First Century's Canadian Equity Fund.

Hillsdale is one of Canada's premier independent investment boutiques, providing a full range of traditional, advanced equity and alternative investment strategies to both institutional and individual investors. Founded in 1996, Hillsdale has developed a proprietary investment approach which focuses on superior alpha within a rigorous risk management process.
