Hitachi CTA Announces vMC IoT-GW

Fully Virtualized 5G Ready Evolved Packet Core for Internet of Things

RICHARDSON, TX--(Marketwired - February 21, 2016) -  Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. (Hitachi CTA) announces availability of its virtual Mobile Core IoT Gateway (vMC IoT-GW).

Hitachi adds to its vMC solution portfolio a combination Virtualized Network Function (VNF) -- vMC IoT-GW. This massively scalable product allows service providers to rapidly deploy carrier-grade Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) using a highly efficient core for the emerging wave of cellular Machine Type Communication (MTC) devices. Hitachi CTA is leveraging commercially available NFV Infrastructure (NFVI) platforms to create solutions that enable truly elastic capacity expansion while reducing operational complexity and adhering to emerging standards based CUPS (Control and User Plane Separation) architecture for mobile networks.

Benefits of this solution includes:

  • IoT-GW combination node with an optimized MME/SGW/PGW -- focused on enabling the explosion of millions of new Machine-to-Machine (M2M) devices without compromising or overwhelming the consumer traffic focused core
  • Transactions Optimization -- vMC IoT-GW composite VNF reduces the number of transactions, eliminates various race conditions, and simplifies an operator's networking configuration in order to efficiently manage the dramatic increase in 4G device transactions rates

"Hitachi CTA leads the market in delivering a highly scalable, functionally focused, high-performance VNF, architected to scale to meet the needs of the millions of simultaneously connected M2M devices," said Reg Wilcox, CEO of Hitachi CTA. "Hitachi continues to add mobile core carrier-grade fully virtualized applications that enable us to meet the performance and scalability requirements of the largest mobile service providers and enterprises in the world."

Hitachi virtual Mobile Core (Hitachi vMC)

Hitachi CTA's virtual Mobile Core (vMC) consists of several Telco Cloud Carrier-grade products which can be deployed either standalone or in combinations based on operator needs. Hitachi CTA's vMC solution suite includes MME, SGSN, SC-GW, SGW, IoT-GW and other Virtual Network Functions (VNF). Individual VNF's can be combined to create a highly optimized MME/SGSN/SGW VNF, and can be deployed with the vMC-EMS and vMC-VNF Manager. All products in Hitachi CTA vMC solution suite run as virtual applications on a variety of virtual infrastructures.

Commercial deployments in addition to Technical and Market trials with Hitachi CTA virtual Mobile Core solution suite are in progress with leading operators. These have demonstrated Hitachi CTA's highly flexible and massively scalable architecture along with feature-rich capabilities in moving legacy networks to an NFV architecture.

The vMC solution suite integrated with Hitachi Live Insight Analytics for IoT that Matters is being demonstrated at Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona (Hall 6 Booth 6G21)
