FALLS CHURCH, VA--(Marketwired - June 22, 2016) - HITT Contracting Inc. was named the number one employer amongst large companies in The Washington Post's annual Top Workplaces survey. HITT, a nationally-ranked general contractor with roots in the DC metro area, moved up five places from the previous year to take the top spot.
"This is a family company and this company is family," said Co-President Brett Hitt, whose grandparents founded the company in 1937 and who oversees the organization with brother-in-law Jim Millar. "We take care of each other, and take pride in the work that we do."
Employees praised their leaders for promoting transparency at all levels of the company, providing feedback that elevated the company to the top of the list and earned HITT a stand-out score for company leadership.
"This honor is shared by the entire HITT team," said Co-President Millar. "To know that this is the direct result of employee feedback is the highest compliment we could receive."
The Top Workplaces list recognizes private, public, nonprofit, and government agencies that received the highest employee ratings in the survey conducted by employee survey firm WorkplaceDynamics. Employee feedback in areas such as pay and benefits, growth and opportunities, company leadership, and community involvement determined where their company landed on the list of 150 area employers.
In addition to being honored at an event last Thursday evening at Washington Post headquarters, winners were featured in a special section of the Sunday, June 19 edition of the Post. In that same edition, Brett Hitt was profiled along with fellow winners from the small and medium-sized companies.
