Hive Awards and SXSW Interactive Festival Honor 2009 Award Winners in Austin; Microsoft Bing Signs on as Sponsor

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 28, 2010) - The Hive Awards, which honors the unsung heroes of the internet, and SXSW Interactive Festival have joined forces to celebrate the 2009 Award winners at the first annual Hive Awards presentation in Austin, Texas. The ceremony, which includes Microsoft Bing among its sponsors, is presented by International Awards Group and will take place at 8pm on Friday, March 12th at Austin's Red7.

"We are thrilled to be a part of 2010 SXSW Interactive. It's like a dream come true," said Hive Awards Director Alan Wolk. "Someone asked me if there was any overlap between our audience and SXSW's audience. I told them that if you expressed that relationship as a Venn diagram, it would just be one circle sitting on top of another -- SXSW is our exact demographic."

SXSW Interactive Festival is known as an incubator for emerging technologies, assembling the world's most innovative designers, bloggers, programmers, web developers, content producers, widget inventors and new media entrepreneurs for five days of total technological immersion. This environment allows the Hive Awards the opportunity to salute its winners amongst their peers and honor them for their innovation and creativity within the internet industry.

Among the Hive Awards' 2010 award presentation sponsors is Microsoft Bing, the internet's new decision engine. "I really like Bing -- and I'm not just saying that because they're a sponsor," said Wolk. "First off, I think it's important that there be some competition in the search market -- in any market, for that matter, but certainly one as important as search. And I like what they've done -- the mapping function is really nicely put together."

The Hive Awards, whose name comes from the "hive mentality" inherent in building a website, is a tribute to those with a myriad of different roles who must work together. Launched by noted blogger and digital strategist Wolk, the Hive Awards rewards coders, programmers, content developers, user experience designers and planners for their innovative work within their industry.
