HMMA Honors Music in Media at Annual Gala

HOLLYWOOD, CA--(Marketwire - November 19, 2010) - The Hollywood Music In Media Awards (www.hmmawards.com) presented honors last night for Original Score, Original Song and Outstanding Music Supervision in Film, TV, Video Games, Commercial Ads, Movie Trailers and the music of independent artists from around the world. 

Original score awards went to Hans Zimmer for "Inception" (film), Steffan Fantini, Marc Fantini and Scott Gordon for "Criminal Minds" (TV), Christophe Beck for "Waiting for Superman" (documentary) and Ramin Djawadi for "Medal of Honor" (video game).

The room was at capacity with composers, music supervisors, industry luminaries, celebrities and independent music artists, coming from as far away as Japan, Australia, Norway and other locations around the globe. Presenters, hosts and VIPs were a mixed bag including actress Jane Fonda, legendary producer Richard Perry and rock star Gilby Clarke (Guns & Roses, "Rockstar: Supernova"), among others.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Artie Kornfeld, the creator/founder of 1969's Woodstock. Outstanding Career Achievement in Film Composing was presented to Christopher Young by Natasha Henstridge, who starred in the film "Species," one of Young's many movies he scored.

Other notable awards included the song "Bangers, Beans & Mashed" (Original Song-Film) from the movie "Get Him to the Greek," written by Jason Segel and Lyle Workman and performed by Infant Sorrow featuring Russell Brand. Best Song-Commercial Advertisement went to MoZella for the song "Magic" from Verizon's Android television commercial campaign. Keaton Simons got the win for Best Song-TV for his track "Grim Reaper" from the Crash series on Starz, which he performed live at the event.

The HMMA is the only awards event to recognize Outstanding Music Supervision. Those honors went to Julia Michels ("Sex in the City 2"), Nora Felder & Budd Carr ("Californication"), Steve Schnur ("Medal of Honor") and special recognition to Mark Woollen & Associates for the work on the movie trailer for "The Social Network."
