Hobnox Launches Mi145, Music Channel With Eclectic Mix of Original Programming

"American Landing: Jimi Hendrix Live at Monterey" Debuts as Exclusive HYPERSHOW(SM)

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - November 19, 2007) -

Hobnox, an artist focused online entertainment community and media publishing platform, today announced the launch of its first music channel, Mi145. The channel highlights the influential musicians of today, uncovers emerging artists of tomorrow and explores the provocative artists of yesterday.

As Mi145 continues to evolve, the channel will feature eclectic, original programming covering the bleeding edges of indie rock, alternative, punk, classic rock and hip-hop. Viewers will have free access to live performances, exclusive interviews, music videos and exclusive broadcast premieres.

The new entertainment portal, which unites broadcast-quality Web media with trailblazing hypermedia technology, will be a prime destination for choice content, beginning with the exclusive broadcast debut of "American Landing: Jimi Hendrix Live at Monterey." This original documentary contains previously unreleased footage of the days leading up to Jimi's legendary performance at the Monterey Pop Festival and is presented in Hobnox's innovative, immersive HYPERSHOW(SM) format. "American Landing," Mi145's first HYPERSHOW(SM), will be continually updated with new content and additional HYPERSHOWS(SM) are being developed for various upcoming programs on the music channel.

Including "American Landing," Mi145 will debut with four original programs regularly updated, and a host of new shows on the way. The current line-up includes:

  • Mind The Gap -- A battle of the bands on an international scale. This music show features a panel of five diverse music industry insiders, including show host, Grammy winner Steve Smith of Dirty Vegas and Jake Brennan, three time Boston Music Award winner and executive producer at Hobnox. In each episode the panel will review and critique music videos of two bands -- one from the UK and one from the U.S. The show will explore the differences between two similar but distinct musical cultures. One artist will be chosen during each show as the best and awarded free studio time. Featured artists: The Dirge (UK) / Darkbuster (U.S.)

  • Pop Ed: Soundtrack Iraq -- A musical op-ed piece in the form of a provocative three to five minute song and video. Taken from today's headlines, Pop Ed gives an unfiltered, unsanitized, musical deconstruction of the issues that affect us all. The first series will cover the War in Iraq from the perspective of a former U.S. Army soldier and hip-hop artist, Big Neal.

  • Empty V -- The way music channels used to be programmed -- with music! Empty V will feature music videos, in depth buzz on bands, live shows, interviews and profiles. Additional content will include Scenester reviews, industry award show coverage, and featured Docuettes on such artists as indie hip-hop star EL-P and fast rising garage rockers the Black Lips.

The provocative music programming on Mi145 is just the beginning." - David Wu, President, Hobnox U.S., Inc.
