Holiday Retirement Helps Veterans Navigate Aid and Attendance Benefits

Retired Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman to Raise Awareness of Little-Known, Tax-Free Living Benefit

SALEM, OR--(Marketwire - Jun 8, 2011) - Holiday Retirement and Gen. Hugh Shelton are teaming up to increase awareness among wartime veterans and their spouses who could be eligible for a tax-free monthly income through the Department of Veterans Affairs' Aid and Attendance benefits.

A qualifying veteran could receive up to $1,644, a surviving spouse of a wartime veteran can potentially receive up to $1,056 and a married couple could receive up to $1,949. The Aid and Attendance benefits are retroactive to the month following the date of application, and Holiday Retirement works with qualified veterans whenever possible to make sure they can enjoy an all-inclusive independent lifestyle while waiting for their benefits to be approved.

"The general, who served during the Vietnam and Gulf wars and Operation Uphold Democracy, knows firsthand what our veterans have endured. Who better to help raise awareness about this well-deserved benefit to the men and woman who have served our country?" said Jack Callison, CEO of Holiday Retirement. "The Aid and Attendance benefits are a tremendous opportunity for wartime veterans and their spouses to greatly reduce their retirement living expenses."
