Holiday Shows Shine on TicketNews' November Events Rankings

VERNON, CT--(Marketwire - December 3, 2010) - The holiday season is in full swing and two popular winter events, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, have landed in the Top 5 on TicketNews' exclusive Events Rankings (compiled November 1-30).

Tickets sales for both shows began earlier in the fall, but their first performances opened in November and provided a marked rankings boost. After ending October in fourth place, Radio City Christmas Spectacular went on to top TicketNews' weekly rankings through November and claim the No. 1 spot for the entire month. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra rose 11 notches from October's rankings to secure a fourth place spot in November.

In late October, Bon Jovi announced the Live 2011 Tour with nearly 50 concerts booked internationally from February through July. Onsales at the start of the month, paired with reports of an impending hiatus, helped the band rocket from unranked to No. 3 over the course of November. The tour's North American leg starts February 9 at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, PA.

Despite a ticket-pricing error during onsales, Kenny Chesney's upcoming tour with Zac Brown Band generated enough interest among country music fans for a No. 10 debut in November. Returning from a year-long hiatus, Chesney embarks on his Goin' Coastal Tour on March 19 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.

Events to Watch for December:

  • December rankings will be strong once again for Christmastime staples like the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which shutter at the month's end.
  • "The Merchant of Venice," starring Al Pacino, opened to rave reviews in November. The limited engagement could reappear on December's rankings before its Broadway run ends January 9.
  • College football's bowl season begins in mid-December. Expect the top games to appear in the December rankings -- specifically the BCS National Championship Game, scheduled for January 10 in Glendale, AZ.
