Holiday Tours Make Seasonal Debut in TicketNews' Top Event Rankings for September 2010

VERNON, CT--(Marketwire - October 4, 2010) -  Summer officially ended in September, and ticket buyers quickly turned their attention towards the approaching holidays. Annual favorites the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and 2010 Radio City Christmas Spectacular made their first appearances of the season in TicketNews' exclusive Top Event Rankings, as compiled from September 1-30.

Ticket sales for both shows started in September, with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular finishing the month at No. 10. The iconic Christmas show begins its New York City residency on November 5, and its national tour launches November 10 in Madison, WI. Meanwhile, the rock-tinged Trans-Siberian Orchestra finished one place behind at No.11 and begins its 2010 tour on November 3 in Council Bluffs, IA.

As expected, football teams dominated the rankings for another month with six NFL teams and one college football team appearing in the TicketNews Top 20. The Dallas Cowboys were the highest-ranked team at No. 7, followed by the Miami Dolphins (No. 8) and the Green Bay Packers (No. 9) in the Top 10. For the Dolphins and the Chicago Bears (No. 19), this marks their first appearances on the rankings for the 2010-2011 season.

Events to Watch for October:

  • Roger Waters' North American tour began in September, helping the classic rocker rocket up the rankings to No. 3. Waters is expected to be a mainstay on TicketNews' rankings for the next few months as his popular tour runs nationally through December.
  • No baseball teams made the Top 20 events list this month, but that should change next month when the MLB playoffs start on October 6.
  • Jay-Z & Eminem's co-headlining concerts took place in September, helping the hip-hop heavyweights finish in sixth place. They'll drop off the rankings in October, which will give a new event the chance to enter the Top 20.
