Holmes Murphy® Names Chuck Long, Legendary Iowa Hawkeye® Quarterback and Former Football Coach, as Business Development Executive

DES MOINES, IA--(Marketwired - July 08, 2013) -  Chuck Long, legendary Iowa Hawkeye quarterback and former football coach, will join Holmes Murphy & Associates, one of the nation's largest independent insurance brokers, as Business Development Executive. Long brings 33 years of on and off the field leadership experience and will be involved in acquisition, service and management of clients for the organization. 

Of the transition, Long says, "In thinking about my next career move, two things were certain: I wanted to continue to challenge myself and I wanted to be part of a winning team. This opportunity with Holmes Murphy represents both." In addition to his role with Holmes Murphy, Long will continue to serve as a broadcaster on the Big Ten Network®.

Chuck Long began his college football career as quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes in 1981 after receiving a full scholarship. He was quickly recognized as a candidate for the coveted Heisman Trophy award. Long played eight years in the National Football League® (NFL) and spent the bulk of his NFL career with the Detroit Lions®. For sixteen years, he coached college teams such as the Iowa Hawkeyes, Oklahoma Sooners®, San Diego State® (head coach) and Kansas Jayhawks®.
