Hometown Hero Cassie Campbell Assists with Groundbreaking Ceremony for Brampton's Newest Community Centre

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 16, 2006) -

WHO: Brampton native Cassie Campbell, an Olympic gold medallist and
former Captain of the Canadian National Women's Hockey Team,
joins Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell and members of Council for
a ground-breaking ceremony for the City's newest community
centre, which will be named the Cassie Campbell Community Centre.

WHAT: This event will simulate a real hockey game with the singing of
O Canada; a puck drop; and, a sod turning using hockey sticks on
a face-off surface.

WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 18, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: The future site of the 165,000 square foot Cassie Campbell
Community Centre, Sandalwood Parkway, north side, west of
Chinguacousy Road, Brampton.

WHY: The new Cassie Campbell Community Centre sets the gold standard
for recreation facilities across Canada. The centre reflects the
future recreation needs and cultural diversity of Brampton.
