Homewood Suites by Hilton Gets Cozy in Canada with Nine New Hotels Planned; Leading U.S.-Based Hotel Brand Identifies Canadian Market for International Expansion Initiative

Homewood Suites by Hilton®, a leading U.S.-based brand of upscale all-suite, residential-style hotels introduced in 1989, is bringing more of the comforts of extended-stay lodging to Canada. Two properties currently are open, Homewood Suites by Hilton Mont-Tremblant and Homewood Suites by Hilton Toronto-Mississauga, and nine development projects are underway as part of the brand's international expansion plans, which also include Mexico. Homewood Suites by Hilton has a portfolio of more than 160 hotels and an additional 95 hotels under development in North America, with ten percent of the new approvals in international markets.

Today the brand will host an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Toronto-Mississauga property to celebrate the blockbuster growth in Canada. Jim Holthouser, senior vice president of brand management for Homewood Suites by Hilton, attended the event, as well as the Homewood Suites by Toronto-Mississauga hotel owner, Al Gulamani.

"The extended-stay concept is still relatively new in Canada, and we are excited about making the lodging market there that much cozier," Holthouser said. The 108-suite Homewood Suites by Hilton Toronto-Mississauga, which opened in June, marks the second international Homewood Suites by Hilton property, and the brand's introduction into a major Canadian metropolitan area. Conveniently located on the northeast corner of Highway 10 and Highway 401 in Mississauga, the property is located on Annagem and Edwards Boulevard, near the growing roster of companies joining the 170-acre Gateway Business Park. The hotel is also within five miles of Toronto's Pearson International Airport and in close proximity to the 400 series of highways.

The six-story Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel features residential-style studio, one- and two-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens and spacious living and sleeping areas large enough for work, study, entertaining or relaxation. In an effort to help guests be more productive, Homewood Suites offers high-speed Internet access in all guest suites. In addition, the Hilton Family of Hotels recently custom designed its own alarm clock, featuring one of the industry's easiest-to-set alarms. The new clocks also feature a connection cable for MP3 players and other portable music devices including Apple iPod®. The hotel also offers two-line phone sets and a large working desk with a comfortable ergonomic chair.

Launched in 1989, the Homewood Suites by Hilton brand today has more than 160 hotels open with another 95 in the pipeline. Beyond its spacious suites and home-like amenities, Homewood Suites guests can enjoy an on-site Suite Shop® convenience store, exercise facility and guest laundry at most locations. Guests can also enjoy a daily complimentary Suite Start™ hot breakfast and a Welcome Home® reception(1) featuring a complimentary light meal and beverages Monday-Thursday evenings.
