Honouring Canadian women who excel in agriculture and agri-food

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - March 14, 2011) - Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is recognizing five women for their leadership and commitment to the Canadian agriculture and agri-food industry with an FCC Rosemary Davis Award.

Today, FCC announced this year's award recipients. Each award winner represents an FCC business region in Canada. These impressive women truly shine as outstanding role models in their communities and within the agriculture industry. They all have pursued very successful careers in agriculture.

The 2011 winners are:

  • Bertha Campbell – registered nurse, co-owner and volunteer, Kensington, PEI
  • Wynne Chisholm – cow-calf producer, management consultant, volunteer, Calgary, AB
  • Liliane Colpron – businesswoman, agri-food industry leader, visionary, Montreal,Quebec
  • Rossana Di Zio Magnotta – entrepreneur, philanthropist, educator, Vaughan, Ontario
  • Sherri Grant – producer, educator, volunteer, Val Marie, Saskatchewan

The award was created in 2005 to honour Rosemary Davis, FCC's first female board chair. Rosemary was a successful agribusiness owner and operator for many years, and active in the industry. Judging criteria for the award include demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and making a difference in agriculture by displaying passion for the industry and a clear vision for its future. Courage, determination and passion are qualities that all of the winners possess. They have followed their dreams and taken the time to share their knowledge with others in support of the future success of the Canadian agriculture industry.

To date, over 225 women – ranging from their early 20s to their mid-80s, from a range of agriculture and agribusiness sectors – have been nominated for this award. Twenty-five Rosemary Davis Awards have been presented to outstanding women and leaders in the agricultural industry.
