HookLogic Expands Solutions to Power E-Commerce Media and Grow Retailer Profit per Shopper

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 22, 2010) -  Today, HookLogic announced expansion of its industry-leading solutions for e-commerce media to increase profits for retail websites and create valuable, relevant connections between brands and their customers. E-commerce media is a form of online media that allows marketers to target shoppers within and around the e-commerce environment at critical moments before the point of purchase. HookLogic provides a technology platform and services to help retailers deploy an e-commerce media program that generates new revenue from media and monetizes all site visitors, even those who don't complete a purchase.

"E-commerce media is an untapped opportunity to drive high-profit, non-transactional revenue for retailers and provide marketers unprecedented access to shoppers deep in the funnel," said Jonathan Opdyke, CEO of HookLogic. "By bringing trade promotions and shopper marketing into the digital age, with all the measurability and optimization digital marketing can offer, an e-commerce media program can greatly improve overall profitability for both retailers and brands."

To measure the success of e-commerce media, HookLogic encourages retailers to adopt a new success metric known as "profit-per-shopper," which is the amount of profit generated from each site visitor, including both transactional and non-transactional revenue. While conversion rate remains a critical focus, "profit-per-shopper" becomes a more complete success metric of an e-commerce business because it blends revenue from the 3-5 percent of shoppers who complete a purchase with e-commerce media revenue from all site visitors. Extensive testing ensures that e-commerce media profits do not come at the expense of conversion; successful programs preserve and even improve the experience for shoppers.

"HookLogic has run successful e-commerce media programs since 2007 and we've learned it's not a one-size-fits-all approach," continued Opdyke. "Unlike typical advertising programs, e-commerce media must be highly integrated into the overall experience of each e-commerce site to engage purpose-driven shoppers with relevant, valuable content and offers. We work closely with retailers to define a comprehensive e-commerce strategy that meets their business objectives and fits into their overall online strategy. Our expanded platform capabilities and services enable HookLogic to deploy that strategy end-to-end."

HookLogic technology now offers new forms of e-commerce media, including e-commerce specific forms of search, contextual and behavioral advertising, enabling retailers to offer a full range of media options and control over where current vendor or new media partner promotions appear, how they look and whether they link onsite or off. HookLogic is also launching media sales services to help retailers engage vendor partners and source relevant third party advertisers.

For brands and marketers, e-commerce media creates new opportunities to connect with in-market shoppers at key decision points. Research firm RIS recently reported that 46.7 percent of U.S. retail executives expect online sales growth of more than 10 percent this holiday season. Additionally, Forrester estimates that in 2010, 46 percent of total retail sales will be Web-influenced or purchased online. With more consumers shopping online over the next several months, it is essential for brands to seek new and innovative ways to reach active shoppers this holiday season.
