HOPE Volleyball SummerFest Takes Silver Anniversary to New Heights

OTTAWA, CANADA--(CCNMatthews - April 24, 2007) - The Alcatel-Lucent HOPE Volleyball SummerFest today announced the addition of the new Rogers Amphitheatre concert venue for this year's SummerFest music-lovers. Twenty-five years in the making, SummerFest is preparing big changes for Ottawa to commemorate a quarter century of giving back to the community.

To provide a better musical experience and elbow room for swelling crowds, SummerFest is taking advantage of the existing hillside available at its traditional home by Mooney's Bay to create a natural amphitheatre accompanied by a bigger and better stage and soundscape.

The new layout for the world's largest beach volleyball tournament and rock concert allows for more volleyball, more music, and more fun. After more than $6 million in financial aid to local charities and a quarter century of volunteerism, the HOPE planning committee is pulling out all the stops to make its silver anniversary bash one for the record books. Included on the list of delights for sun worshippers are explosive musical acts and a new compliment of local charities that stand to benefit from the good times.

"The creation of the Rogers Amphitheatre helps the Alcatel-Lucent HOPE Volleyball SummerFest celebrate its 25th anniversary by bringing the event to a new level," says Henrie Gibson, Vice President and General Manager, North East Ontario for Rogers Communications, Inc. "From Rogers MusicStore to MP3 phones, Rogers provides new ways to experience music. The move to a bigger and better concert space at SummerFest is one more example of our commitment to music and the community."

Tourney team registration opens April 27th. Team berths for the annual sell out event are expected to be an even hotter commodity this year with expectations for the 25th anniversary edition running at a fever pitch. HOPE's entertainment committee has yet to confirm or deny the rumours circulating in Ottawa regarding the musical line up for the new concert venue. However, an inside source who asked to remain anonymous suggests that, "No one will be disappointed. Fans will be paralyzed with excitement when we announce the line up for this silver anniversary party."
