Hopkins Erbert & Gerbert's Aims to Give Back

Family-Owned Sandwich Shop to Donate Proceeds on March 11, 2008 to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund

HOPKINS, MN--(Marketwire - February 25, 2008) - Iraq is nearly 7,000 miles and two seasons away from Hopkins, Minnesota. But the soldiers serving in Iraq are in the hearts and minds of every Minnesotan. And on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, the family-owned Erbert & Gerbert's sub shop in Hopkins, Minn. will let residents express their gratitude to our service men and women by donating all of that day's proceeds to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (IMSFF).

The IMSFF, established in 2004, is a nationwide non-profit organization that works with Marine Corps, the Navy, and military hospitals -- including the VA PolyTrauma Center in Minneapolis -- to identify and address the financial and recovery needs of injured soldiers and their families.

All earnings beyond labor and food costs at Erbert & Gerbert's on March 11 will go directly to providing financial assistance and quality-of-life solutions to injured Marines and their families.

"I cannot begin to describe the respect and admiration I have for our fighting men and women and their families," says Hopkins Erbert & Gerbert's co-owner Brad Holzer, who owns the shop with his brother, Scott.

"I feel it is our responsibility as citizens to support our soldiers and show our gratitude in any we can."

For many injured soldiers returning from Iraq, medical costs are soaring, and rehabilitation is often extensive and prolonged. With the daylong event at the Hopkins Erbert & Gerbert's, neighbors, friends, and family members of Iraq vets can gather together in the community to acknowledge our soldiers' efforts, and to give something back to the soldiers who are giving to a cause every day.

"I spend a lot of time in airports, and see soldiers very frequently," says Brad Holzer. "It makes the war very real. These soldiers are young. They are serious. They are impressive and they fill me with pride. However, only rarely have I expressed my thanks, which they deserve greatly. I feel this promotion, in a very small way, gives me that opportunity."

About Erbert and Gerbert's: Erbert & Gerbert's operates sub shops in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Colorado. Since opening its doors in Eau Claire, Wis., in 1988, the E&G concept has exploded, prompting brothers Brad and Scott Holzer to open their own E&G in November of 2003. E&G is known for its fresh bread and fine ingredients, as well as its retro designs and irreverent advertising. Erbert & Gerbert's is located at 740 Mainstreet, in downtown Hopkins. About the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund: Since its inception in 2004, the IMSFF has donated more than $16 million to injured Marines and their families. Those grants and donated funds provide swift financial assistance with no red tape attached so that soldiers and their families can focus on recovery instead of the costs incurred by hospitalization and rehabilitation.
