Horizon Air and AMFA Reach Tentative Contract Agreement

SEATTLE--(CCNMatthews - Oct 7, 2005) -

Horizon Air and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) have reached a tentative agreement on a three-year contract for the airline's more than 400 mechanics and fleet services agents. Terms of the agreement are being withheld pending a ratification vote by Horizon's AMFA membership.

"I appreciate the patience and professionalism of our mechanics and fleet services agents as the company and AMFA worked through the process of crafting our first-ever agreement," said Celia Sherbeck, Horizon's vice president of maintenance and engineering.

Founded in 1981, Horizon currently serves 46 cities throughout California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and British Columbia and Alberta. The airline flew more than 5 million passengers last year. In 2004, Horizon's average on-time performance exceeded that of all major continental U.S. airlines tracked by the Department of Transportation. Together, Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines serve more than 80 cities and are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK).
