Horton Tire Center - First Les Schwab Dealership to Go Solar, Partners With Plumas Bank and PG&E to Help Protect the Environment

QUINCY, CA--(Marketwire - May 11, 2011) - Plumas Bank, a subsidiary of Plumas Bancorp (NASDAQ: PLBC), congratulates Ron and Stephanie Horton, owners and operators of Horton Tire Center and member-dealers of Les Schwab Tires, the leading tire retailer in the United States with more than 400 centers in eight western states. Horton Tire Center, located in Quincy, California, has the largest commercial solar installation in Plumas, Sierra, Modoc, Lassen and Siskiyou counties. It's the first Les Schwab dealership to go solar.

The Hortons, customers of Plumas Bank since 1997, partnered with Plumas Bank's award-winning SBA lending group for financing to complete the project. "Our SBA loan was processed within 60 days. Plumas Bank made it easy for us," commented co-owner Stephanie Horton. Installation of the 240-panel, 54-kilowatt project went operational March 28.

"The benefits of going green were initially quite expensive," admits Stephanie. "My first reaction was to say no to the project; but after doing the investigative research, we found it to be very attractive. Our advisor said that with the rebates the federal government and Pacific Gas & Electric were offering, there was no other financial instrument that could yield the return on investment that going solar could."

Ron Horton added, "Despite the cloudy weather over the last several weeks, the panels have provided all of our electricity and generated a surplus as well." He explained, "PG&E will bank the excess electricity for the next calendar year." At the end of the year, the Hortons expect a check for the excess. "We've made a conscious attempt to incorporate other green efforts such as replacing all the lighting in the shop with energy-efficient fixtures and bulbs. Every little bit counts!" noted Ron.

"The green trend is here to stay," remarked Stephanie. "Today everyone is more concerned with saving money on utilities, living a simpler life and finding ways to scale down their expenses. People are genuinely concerned about the environment and are looking for ways to save money." She added, "Companies like ours are looking for ways to drastically reduce their carbon footprint, while saving operational expenses and enhancing the customer experience."

Ron concluded, "Going green is about making the right choices, with the comfort of knowing that these choices can ultimately also save our company money. We certainly made the right choice by choosing our solar contractor and Plumas Bank to help us make this win-win endeavor a reality."
