Hotel Council of San Francisco's Million Dollar Mission Is Off to a Tremendous Start

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - May 31, 2012) - In the true spirit of hospitality, the Hotel Council of San Francisco is partnering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to raise funds for vital research. Already off to an impressive start with early donation commitments in the thousands, the campaign is certainly poised to become one of the City's most impressive (single industry supported) fund-raising initiatives which help provide financial, education and social services for individuals and their families affected by blood cancer. This 30-day city-wide crusade, which officially launches July 1, 2012, will bring together thousands of San Francisco hoteliers in a "Million Dollar Mission."

Please take a moment to view the campaign video. This inspiring collection of first-hand experiences, including interviews from Hotel survivors, truly illustrates the magnitude of the campaign. The video may be found online at: http://youtu.be/Ya9gXQnuXPA

Guest outreach, employee drives, and an impressive online auction are but a few of the activities planned. Contributions are currently being accepted at www.donateSFMission.org.

As the City's second largest employer, hotel workers at every level will participate and lend support through various 'back of the house' initiatives including: Spare Change Days, Sweets & Treats (bake sales), Steward Sales (internal garage sales like no other) and internal raffle/drawings.

San Francisco is on sale at BiddingForGood.com -- hotels throughout the greater Bay Area are designing an online auction like none other. During the month of July, dozens of one-of-a-kind experiential packages that showcase the vibrancy of America's favorite city will be auctioned with proceeds benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Travel partner Expedia, Inc. is lending support to the cause by promoting the charity to consumers searching for San Francisco hotels on Expedia® and Hotels.com® sites in the U.S.

"We are delighted to help raise awareness for the San Francisco Million Dollar Mission, and help facilitate the fundraising for this worthy cause," said Kelsey Miller, senior market manager for Expedia, Inc. in San Francisco.

After booking a stay at a participating hotel on Expedia.com® or Hotels.com sites through July, customers will receive information on how they can contribute to the Million Dollar Mission upon arriving for their hotel stay. Upon making a qualified donation of $25 or more, the guest receives a promotional offer from the hotel, which may consist of a room upgrade or complimentary food or beverage.

Our city is home to a booming tourism sector, of which the hospitality industry is a proud and vital part. We are the voice of San Francisco's hotels.
