Hotel in Hamburg Parties Brilliantly During Its 25th Anniversary

Beautiful People, Exciting Raffles and One Spectacular Show of Generosity Commemorated the First 25 Years of the Hamburg Marriott Hotel

HAMBURG, GERMANY--(Marketwired - Nov 5, 2013) - It's been 25 years since Marriott International arrived on German soil with its Hamburg Marriott Hotel. Plenty has changed in the world since then but, as evidenced by this hotel's recent anniversary celebrations, the hotel's robust enthusiasm for living and giving remains vibrantly intact.

Case in point is the anniversary fete of this Alster Lake hotel, which was held October 17, 2013. Nearly 700 guests arrived to sip specialty drinks, nibble delicacies like sushi and carpaccio of grilled Portobello and dance the night away on the Energy Dance floor and in the Neon Tetris lounge. DJ Mikel Moon made sure the vibe was as crisply cool as it was danceable until the soul singer Volkan Baydar took to the stage for a thrilling live performance.

The party-goers were as illustrious as the talent. The former mayor Dr. Henning Voscherau; actresses Anika Lehman, Andrea Luedke and Caroline Kieswetter; and Hamburg Tourism Managing Director, Dietrich von Albedyll all turned out to celebrate these Hamburg accommodations. One lucky attendee even won a trip for two to the luxurious JW Marriott Dubai.

Perhaps the biggest winner of the evening, though, was not an individual, but the international charity, SOS Children's Village. This organization was the beneficiary of Marriott's Lend a Hand program, which invited guests in 31 Marriott properties in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to provide a colorful handprint in exchange for 5EUR or 5₣. The program, unique among hotels near Hamburg Harbor, lasted for five weeks and generated a staggering 40,000EUR. Mr. Baydar presented the subsequent check to SOS representatives, who will apply the funds to help special-needs teenagers and other disabled people embark on fulfilling, meaningful careers.

As for all those handprints, they were also put to good use: Four of the 31 canvases were combined to create a one-of-a-kind artwork.

While much has been accomplished during the hotel's first quarter-century, there are still more exciting changes ahead. Features like mobile check-in will be available in 2014, and updates to create Next Generation Meeting Spaces are also in the works to further distinguish this property from other hotels near O2 World Hamburg.
