Hotel in Leeds' City Centre Embraces Its Inner Child

In Hosting Freedom Charity's Family Conference, the Leeds Marriott Hotel Effortlessly Merged Professional Service With Plenty of Fun

LEEDS, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Nov 25, 2013) - Not all conferences are created equal. Some occur in elegant spaces with natural light, crown molding and wood-paneled walls. Some welcome worthy causes and admirable people. And some, like the Freedom Charity conference recently held at the Leeds Marriott Hotel, enjoy all this and considerably more.

When Freedom Charity explored the available conference venues in and around Leeds, its event organizers were impressed by this property's numerous attractive features. Boasting 20 meeting rooms with 7,556 square feet of space, the hotel had the wherewithal to accommodate its delegates. Also, the property stood out among other Leeds hotels by virtue of its dedicated business event planners, onsite catering, high-speed Internet access in every function room and the latest audiovisual equipment. But what the organisation's event planners could not have known was just how creative, dedicated and professional the staff would turn out to be.

Freedom Charity is a UK-based organisation that works to protect children from forced marriages and the violence engendered by such situations. As a result, children are not only cherished, they're celebrated -- and invited attend to family conferences like this one.

The hotel staff eagerly jumped onboard. All of the property's managers and supervisors (rather than just a few) pitched in to coordinate the event, staying beyond their scheduled hours to ensure everything went off without a hitch. Considering that more than 150 children were onsite for the event, this was a fortunate decision. And while Freedom Charity technically managed the childcare by providing workshops, crèches, activity rooms and more, this luxury Leeds hotel made things considerably more palatable by setting up a lobby station with lollipops and juice. Even the front-door concierge got into the spirit of things by dressing up as a lion for the special day, a move that helped put the kids at ease and set the tone for the event.

From the elegant trappings of the Leeds meeting rooms, to the dedication of the staff, no detail went unattended during Freedom Charity's conference. And the result was unanimously enthusiastic.

"To cope with the changing requirements, last-minute requests, equipment, service and creative solutions inherent to a dynamic affair like this takes a very special team," noted Fran Cooper, the Managing Director of Freedom Charity. "All the staff at the Marriott in Leeds were accommodating, flexible and able to deliver all requests promptly and with a friendly, can-do attitude."
