Hotel in Westchester Hosts Evening of Art and Music

WESTCHESTER, NY--(Marketwired - Aug 16, 2013) - Arts, entertainment, creative cocktails and good food come together at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel on August 20^th. The hotel's Hive restaurant near White Plains, NY invites both locals and guests to spend the evening experiencing Renaissance hotel's RLife LIVE series.

From 5:30 to 8pm, Hive Living Room + Bar at this White Plains hotel will host admired illustrator Jason Graves as he completes his 200-square-foot custom blackboard-chalk art wall installation. Graves enjoys experimenting with a variety of mediums and his past works include a 3-D painting of Fenway Park, vintage gas station signs, magazine illustrations, custom logos and custom hand-painted business signs.

Joining Graves will be musician Timmy Cappello, a singer, guitarist and saxophonist who's played and sung with a number of big-name performers including Tina Turner, Peter Gabriel, Carly Simon and Billy Crystal. Capello was also a two-time member of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band.

An evening of live music and art is already a great deal, but the event at this hotel near Rye, NY also includes complimentary hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine and a special cocktail of the day. After the event, guests can stick around Hive Living Room + Bar, where chef Jean-Claude Lanchais brings more than 30 years of experience to create a seasonal menu of American cuisine including salads, sandwiches, steaks and seafood, all made with locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant resembles an urban barn, with warm woods, diffused lighting and various table settings and nooks, and also offers a chef's table. With this special dining experience, guests can watch Lanchais and his sous chefs as they prepare a delicious seven-course meal that features items not on the regular menu including porcini-dusted scallops in creamy morel sauce and sautéed lamb loin with white-bean casserole.

Even without a reservation at the chef's table, diners can enjoy Lanchais' culinary skills with offerings on the regular menu. Start with homemade potato chips, served with crème fraîche, chive and crispy pork belly bits; a seared duckling wrap with hoisin sauce and chopped scallion; or the roasted tomato soup with crab-meat salsa. For the main meal, try the "R" angus burger topped with fried egg, onion, bacon, tomato and lettuce, served on a toasted brioche bun, or the crunchy baked Gaia's Breath Farm veal chop with roasted cauliflower and broccoli, and fresh lime. End the meal with a decadent dessert, including the homemade bread pudding served with caramel gelato.
