Commodore Fan Base Extensive for Vanderbilt Football

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - December 22, 2010) - Football is big in Tennessee and the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University found out just how big it is with their online contest supporting the Vanderbilt Football Commodores.

As one of the premier hotels near Vanderbilt University, and the only hotel located on the university campus, the Marriott is a proud supporter of Vanderbilt sports and academics and launched the football contest in June as part of a season-long promotional effort. The Nashville West End hotel's football contest netted a total of 1,726 entries from enthusiastic fans seeking to win a prize package that included two tickets to the Vanderbilt vs Tennessee football game. The promotion, which ended Nov. 19, was advertised through a rotating micro banner on the Commodores' website that linked fans to the contest page.

"It was a great promotion that really highlighted the vast fan base that Vandy has in the South East," said Hotel Manager Steve Sines after enumerating the nearly 2,000 entries.

As advertised, the contest winner was awarded two tickets to the Commodores' Nov. 20 home game against the Tennessee Volunteers, two pre-game sideline passes at the game, a two-night stay at the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University for the Friday and Saturday of the game, the opportunity to eat with the team on Friday night and a team autographed Vanderbilt football game jersey.
