Hotel Nelligan Announces $8 Million Expansion Project

Award-winning Old Montreal boutique hotel to inaugurate new section in May

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 28, 2007) - Hotel Nelligan, one of Montreal's most distinctive boutique hotels, recently announced its forthcoming expansion. The destination will add 44 new rooms and suites, including two penthouse suites, plus additional conference facilities and a new restaurant Mechant Boeuf Bar & Brasserie. The expansion represents an $8 million investment by the hotel's proprietors, the Antonopoulos Group, as well as $500,000 in grant by the Ministry of Culture and Communications and the City of Montreal. The new section will officially be inaugurated and open to guests this May.

Since opening its doors in June 2002, the AAA Four Diamond Award®-winning Hotel Nelligan has become known for its luxury, elegance and attention to detail. Named in honour of 19th century Quebecois poet, Emile Nelligan, Hotel Nelligan is situated in the heart of Old Montreal, minutes from the downtown core. The original hotel, built into the existing facade of two 19th century structures, was an $8.5 million restoration project. The current expansion will encompass an adjoining third 19th century heritage building. In true Old Montreal fashion, the hotel embraces the city's historic past while offering the highest level of modern comforts and services in the hospitality industry today.

The expanded hotel will offer in total 105 luxurious rooms, including 59 suites, each with a double Jacuzzi and glassed-in shower, state-of-the-art electronic equipment such as 32-inch LCD screens and DVD players, and fireplaces in most rooms. Two exquisite penthouses boast an urban condo feel, each with its own kitchen, wet bar and private rooftop terrace.

Visitors will appreciate the new section's architectural focal point, a stunning skylight over the first-floor salon. Guest rooms in the building's upper three floors overlook a charming exterior courtyard, open to the elements.

Complementing the hotel's existing four conference rooms, the expansion adds a 3,500-square-foot banquet hall that may be subdivided into three smaller sections. The hotel will continue to offer premium business services including high-speed internet access and Wi-Fi, a fully equipped business centre, personalized business cards upon arrival, secretarial services, and a complimentary morning shuttle to Montreal's downtown core.

Other amenities include a fitness centre, massage salon, and General Manager's cocktail, featuring complimentary wine and cheese every evening.

In addition to popular restaurant Verses-with its modern take on classic French cuisine-Hotel Nelligan's expansion will now create a new dining destination. The Mechant Boeuf Bar & Brasserie will specialize in French Brasserie cuisine, with beef as the star ingredient. Vibrant decor emphasizes an abundance of red, and the bar will be lit by an ever-changing palette of coloured lights. A spectacular illuminated waterfall will add unique flair to the restaurant's adjacent salon.
