Hotels Bring Fine Art to Canary Wharf in Dynamic New Gallery Space

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Apr 30, 2015) - London attracts countless visitors with its galleries and museums, but some travellers don't even have to leave their accommodations to experience the fine arts. At the London Marriott Hotel West India Quay and Marriott Executive Apartments London, West India Quay, a new gallery space on the lower ground floor lets visitors discover the latest artists to hit the London scene, all during a mid-conference break or over drinks at a reception.

Unique among London Docklands hotels, the gallery launched on 16 April and can serve as a function space accommodating up to 100 people for a cocktail reception or a meeting break. The gallery nicely complements the hotel's existing 8,762 square feet of function space, which features 20 event rooms, 14 breakout rooms, on-site technicians for A/V and electronics support and a dedicated kitchen for the ballroom.

This innovative Canary Wharf event space enjoyed an auspicious start with its first exhibition. The artist Lincoln Townley (pictured left) displayed works from both his Banker Collection and Hollywood Collection. With portraits of Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise on display, the exhibit carried some of the star power that infused Townley's recent trip to Tinseltown, where he presented portraits to the actors Charlie Sheen and Nick Nolte, among others.

As the gallery evolves, the general manager Bertrand Dijoux (pictured right) will personally curate the exhibitions to include additional artistic mediums like sculpture and photography. Not only will this keep the space fresh and dynamic -- and completely original among hotels near The O2 arena in London -- but it will also enhance the event experience of everyone, from those attending a wedding, to extended-stay corporate travellers.
