House Beautiful's Fifth Annual Kitchen of the Year Returns to Rockefeller Center(R)

Todd English and Miles Angelo Among Top Culinary Talent Participating in Extraordinary Showcase of Cuisine and Innovative Design at America's Ultimate Kitchen

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Jul 18, 2012) - If it's July in Rockefeller Plaza, it must be House Beautiful magazine's Kitchen of the Year. The summer's must-see destination for brilliant kitchen design and innovative culinary happenings, America's "dream kitchen," presented in partnership with Tishman Speyer, is now in its fifth year. Now through Friday, July 20, the Kitchen of the Year will host non-stop presentations from an incredible array of celebrated and innovative chefs as well as tastings, kitchen tours, design presentations and more. All events are open to the public. A complete schedule of events can be found: www.housebeautiful.com/KOTY. Highlights include:

  • Todd English of Olives restaurant demonstrates Korean Style Grilled Skirt Steak (July 18)
  • Highlighting the locavore culinary movement, star chefs from New York-area restaurants Peekamoose, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, and Gigi's Trattoria will prepare dishes and beverages with locally-sourced ingredients (July 19)
  • Made In America: American Treasures Culinary Experience that recognizes individuals and small producers in America (July 19)
  • Miles Angelo of Caribou Club will demonstrate Cappalletti with Duck Confit (July 19)

To mark this special fifth anniversary kitchen, House Beautiful has enlisted top kitchen designer Mick De Giulio to bring his passion for comfortable, livable and beautiful kitchens to the Plaza. The 1,000-square-foot kitchen conservatory that De Giulio designed features two fully-functioning kitchens, indoor and outdoor, where delectable bites and sips will be offered throughout the day. The kitchen brings together a wide array of premier building and home decoration companies, including Belgard Hardscapes, Caesarstone, Kohler, KraftMaid Cabinetry, Whirlpool, Aircraft Scentsticks, Ann Sacks, Circa Lighting, The Container Store, de Giulio kitchen design, Frontgate, Glidden, Grandin Road, Grothouse, Hickory Chair, iRobot, Kravet, Michael Aram, Napoleon Fireplaces, Shaw Floors, and VTech.

The Kitchen of the Year is located on the North Plaza Block of Rockefeller Plaza (50th and 51st Streets, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues) and is open to the public daily through July 20.

For design fans outside of the New York City area, the Kitchen of the Year will be featured online at www.housebeautiful.com/KOTY with videos, podcasts and other special features as well as in the October 2012 issue of House Beautiful, which will be available on newsstands in mid-September.
