House Beautiful's Fifth Annual Kitchen of the Year Returns to Rockefeller Center(R) on July 16th

An Extraordinary Design Showcase Presenting Timeless Style and Culinary Talent in America's Ultimate Kitchen

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - May 30, 2012) - If it's July in Rockefeller Plaza, it must be House Beautiful magazine's Kitchen of the Year. The summer's must-see destination for brilliant kitchen design and innovative culinary happenings, America's "dream kitchen," presented in partnership with Tishman Speyer, is now in its fifth year. On Monday, July 16, through Friday, July 20, the Kitchen of the Year will host non-stop presentations on the most influential design trends, interactive programs with designers, craftsmen and lifestyle leaders, and up-close culinary demonstrations from an incredible array of celebrated and innovative chefs. To mark this special fifth anniversary kitchen, House Beautiful has enlisted top kitchen designer Mick De Giulio to bring his passion for comfortable, livable and beautiful kitchens to the Plaza.

"We're so fortunate to have Mick De Giulio of de Giulio kitchen design create this year's kitchen," said Newell Turner, editor in chief of House Beautiful. "Mick is not just any kitchen designer -- he is THE kitchen designer with hundreds of projects completed around the globe. We've featured his work in House Beautiful and he is admired throughout the industry as one of the very best."

When asked to describe his design philosophy, Mr. De Giulio responded, "I believe a great kitchen has a magic to it that transforms the physical room into a feeling. People are drawn to that kitchen, and they may not know why. The kitchen sings. It is my job to write the music. I may call myself a kitchen designer, but what I really do is orchestrate and conduct the dreaming process."

The 1,000-square-foot kitchen conservatory features two fully-functioning kitchens, indoor and outdoor, where delectable bites and sips will be offered throughout the day. The kitchen brings together a wide array of premier building and home decoration companies, including Ann Sacks, Belgard, Caesarstone, Circa Lighting, The Container Store, Frontgate, Glidden, Grandin Road, Grothouse, Hickory Chair, iRobot, Kohler, KraftMaid, Kravet, Napoleon Fireplaces, Shaw Floors, and Whirlpool.

The Kitchen of the Year will be located on the North Plaza Block of Rockefeller Plaza (50th and 51st Streets, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues) and will be open to the public daily, from July 16-20 (check housebeautiful.com/KOTY for a listing of the week's schedule of events).
