HouseMaster Says the Presidential Election Inspires New Hope in the Housing Market

Home Buyers and Sellers See the Value of Home Inspections in This New Economy

EWING, NJ--(Marketwire - Nov 15, 2012) - While no one has a crystal ball, HouseMaster, the first and most experienced home inspection franchise company in the U.S. and Canada, says there are signs that the housing market is improving. As home buyers and sellers return to the market, HouseMaster says the need for experienced, non-biased home inspectors will grow -- as buyers look for assurances on quality and sellers search for a competitive edge in a market crowded with pent-up inventory.

"The statistics are encouraging," said Lenny Rankin, President and COO DBR Franchising d/b/a HouseMaster. "Housing starts have risen for three months in a row, with the number of units now exceeding an annual rate of 715,000 units. Foreclosure activity has dropped to a five-year low and is now stabilizing. It's anticipated that there will be a favorable interest-rate environment into next year, with the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaging around 3.50 percent. When you look at the full picture, it's encouraging."

As the Democratic Party reclaims the White House, HouseMaster anticipates that the combination of low interest rates and high inventory will continue to attract young home buyers. HouseMaster believes the current economic situation will motivate both home buyers and sellers to remain competitive in the market.

Rankin maintains, "First time home buyers can benefit tremendously from a professional, guaranteed home inspection as it absolutely will assist them in making an informed purchase decision. And we see more and more home sellers using our services prior to listing their homes and we expect that trend to continue," said Rankin. "It is often less expensive to fix a problem before you begin to show your home than to negotiate an 'adjustment' during the contract process. With high inventory in many markets, even easy-to-correct maintenance problems may cause a prospective buyer to move to the next house on their list."

Founded in 1979 as the first home inspection franchise operation in the United States, HouseMaster provides home buyers and sellers an independent, third-party, professional evaluation of the condition of the major elements of a home. HouseMaster home inspections enable potential homebuyers and sellers the opportunity to make educated real estate decisions and potentially negotiate repair needs. From interior systems such as plumbing and electrical to exterior components like the roof and siding, the HouseMaster home inspection includes the evaluation of all visible and accessible elements of the home.

HouseMaster also conducts new construction, commercial property and foreclosure inspections, among other services.
