HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - Apr 10, 2012) - A third-generation custom home builder in Houston, TX, Scott Frankel is helping to turn the city green. In recognition of his efforts and community service, Scott was recently selected from 200 applicants for the Houston Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Class of 2012.

A native Houstonian, Frankel, 31, is vice president of operations and construction at Frankel Building Group (FBG), an award-winning company designing and building homes in Houston, The Woodlands and surrounding areas. Scott and father, Jim Frankel, a homebuilder for more than 25 years, both achieved Graduate Master Builder status, a designation few builders in the country receive.
Following his passion for green building, Scott also became the first registered Master Certified Green Professional in Texas and the second in the U.S. He is a frequent speaker on green technology for the homebuilding industry, and has made great strides in changing the public's perception of green building by presenting its benefits.
Scott and brother Kevin Frankel, also an FBG VP, encouraged their family owned and operated business to become green home builders in Houston because "it's the right thing to do." FBG now only builds houses in the LEED for Homes program, and is currently developing a subdivision of green custom homes in The Woodlands called ParkGate Reserve.
In honor of his dedication to sustainable building, the U.S. Green Building Council's Texas Gulf Coast Chapter named Scott a "Green Hero" in 2011, and permanently recognizes him in the chapter's Legacy Hall.
The 40 Under 40 designation is Scott's most recent honor. He will proudly accept it May 24 during an awards ceremony at The House of Blues.
