Houston FastPark and Relax Raises Money, Food for Houston Food Bank

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - September 14, 2009) - FastPark and Relax, an off-site airport parking company company located at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and its customers are raising money and food for the Houston Food Bank. The company's second annual food drive will take place Sept. 14 through Oct. 11. All items will be donated to Houston Food Bank. FastPark and Relax will donate $1 for every pound of non-perishable food donated by customers.

Food banks across the country are struggling to keep up with demand this year. According to Feeding America, the demand for food assistance has risen 30 percent in the past year.

"We received such a tremendous response from our customers last year during our first food drive," said Melanie Chavez, chief marketing officer at FastPark, "that we couldn't imagine not doing it again this year. We hope to once again be able to contribute and make a significant impact in our community.

FastPark and Relax is conducting similar food drives at each of its off-site airport parking facilities across the country.

Collectively, the company donated nearly 5,000 pounds of food to food banks in 2008. FastPark's monetary match will help to feed even more people in need this year.

"The need for food and monetary donations has greatly increased this year as the recession has put more people in difficult financial situations," said Brian Green, president and CEO of the Houston Food Bank. Houston's FastPark & Relax facility (3100 Greens Rd., Houston, TX 77032), its FastPark2 facility (6655 Will Clayton Parkway., Humble, TX 77338) are located at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Each provides a shuttle service that, unlike other parking facilities, conveniently picks up patrons directly outside their car door. The facility provides covered parking, complimentary jump starts and flat-tire assistance, free bottled water and newspapers and free luggage assistance to get the whole family onto the shuttle as quickly as possible. and offer special Internet pricing for $5.20 per day (excluding tax) at the Houston facilities.
