NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 17, 2016) - Today at the National Retail Federation Convention, HP Inc. (NYSE: HPQ) announced the HP RP9 Retail System, the first retail point-of-sale (POS) product shipping with key integrated peripherals that are enabled with Intel® Data Protection Technology for Transactions (DPT for Transactions). The HP RP9 Retail System offers end-to-end protection of payment and non-payment customer data to help retailers of all sizes mitigate risk and robust performance to help them provide an extraordinary customer experience.

"The right customer experience is pivotal in building brand loyalty and the key is to provide a consistent, personalized and safe engagement," said Lorena Kubera, vice president and general manager, HP's Retail Solutions Global Business Unit. "We designed the HP RP9 Retail System with the computing power and sleek design our retail customers need, while utilizing the enhanced data encryption capabilities of Intel DPT for Transactions to help ensure consumer's personal information is protected the instant the transaction begins."

Enhanced security
The HP RP9 Retail System is the first retail point-of-sale (POS) product shipping with key integrated peripherals that are enabled with Intel's Data Protection Technology for Transactions (DPT for Transactions)1. The innovative technology creates a secure transaction path that routes data directly from the point of entry to a bank's servers, encrypting the sensitive information throughout the process. The HP RP9 with Intel® DPT for Transactions2 isolates and protects credit/debit information and personal data from the moment a transaction is initiated to ensure customer security throughout the lifecycle of the transaction.

"We know the safety of personal data has become a growing concern for retail customers in recent years," said Joe Jensen, vice president of the Retail Solutions Division, Intel. "Our Data Protection Technology implemented on the new HP RP9 retail system helps assure customers their data is safe from the moment they make a purchase and provides peace of mind for retailers who are ultimately responsible for customer information."

Customer-friendly design, powerhouse performance
The all-in-one RP9 Retail System provides the processing power and speed retailers require for all-day use in a modern attractive design. Built with retailer preference and flexibility in mind, the thin, compact system can be deployed as a counter top device, kiosk or mounted on a wall to create a welcoming point of contact between retailers and customers. The system was uniquely designed and tested to withstand the everyday stress of a retail environment and provide a sleek-looking focal point during a customer's retail experience.

The RP9's contemporary and versatile design, paired with enterprise-class performance and power, positions the system as the ultimate retail solution. The 15.6" or 18.5" diagonal display features 10-point multi-touch capability and edge-to-edge glass, ideal for multi-tasking retailers whose rapid transactions drive efficiency.

With a 10-year support lifecycle, the HP RP9 Retail System delivers enhanced configurability to meet retailer needs for years to come.
