HQ at European Seafood Exposition, Rolls Out Its "Consumer Driven" Range of Toxin-Free "TiLoveYa™" Products

Commitment to Sustainable Aquaculture a Winner in Europe

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 20, 2007 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (OTCBB: HQSB), a leader in toxin-free integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, will present the Company's new range of "consumer driven" health-conscious, toxin-free TiLoveYa™ tilapia products to the European markets for the first time at the European Seafood Exposition, April 24th to the 26th. HQ's broad new range of products, developed during the past year, was first presented at the Boston Seafood Show in March 2007.

"Aquaculture has been more or less production driven and is now starting to recognise consumers as of prime importance," said Alistair Lane at a recent "Aquaculture Today" conference in Europe (See,_conference_hears.html)

Europe's markets are unique and HQ's "consumer driven" approach is made to measure. In Europe's capital, Brussels, HQ will also highlight its fundamental commitment to sustainable aquaculture and healthy toxin-free seafood to feed the world. In honor of Earth Day (April 22, 2007), HQ announced this week that one percent of its sales from April 19th to 29th will be given to the Ocean Trust and to The Nature Conservancy, two major non-profits dedicated to preserving the world's resources and environment.

HQ's expanding line of TiLoveYa tilapia products currently includes seven different value-added flavors to meet the full spectrum of consumer acceptance. TiLoveYa products are currently available through Ultimate Entrée ( and such select retail stores as Grocery Outlet ( and Metropolitan Market ( They are in the process of being rolled out to other major American retail and service industry chains.

Unlike most fish fillet products, HQ's TiLoveYa products are flavored with natural ingredients and then individually quick-frozen to preserve flavor, juiciness and appearance. Fillet products from other producers are commonly defrosted once or even twice before adding flavor and freezing again, a process that has been shown to substantially reduce the quality of the product.

HQ's tilapia is produced on the pristine Hainan Island in China, an ecological haven where polluting heavy industry is not allowed. The island economy has been centered on tourism and food production. HQ's freshwater tilapia products include no hormones, antibiotics or other toxins and are free of heavy metals associated with ocean-harvested products. Their fresh clean taste is due to the natural farming methods in ponds that are richly oxygenated to prevent algae growth that affects taste.

HQ is assisting the Aquaculture Certification Council, Inc. (ACC) ( in vetting and rolling out Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) for tilapia aquaculture operations based on proposed standards developed by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA).

Norbert Sporns, HQ's CEO, will speak as a panelist at the International Biotechnology Convention to be held in Boston, May 5-9, 2007. His presentation, "Modeling Aquaculture Production to Meet Demand Sustainably," will be part of a panel discussing "Aquaculture: How Biotech Advances Can Feed the World Sustainably." The panel will be part of the Convention's "Food and Agriculture Track," which is sponsored by ArberGen, Bayer CropScience, Ceres, Inc., Mendel Biotechnology and Monsanto Company.
