HR Plus Signs Statement of Support for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Aug 10, 2012) -  HR Plus,, a leading provider of comprehensive employment and background screening solutions, and a division of AlliedBarton Security Services, has signed a Statement of Support for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Retired Brig. Gen. Jay Sheedy, Employer Outreach Director for Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve joined Bill Tate, President of HR Plus, for the signing at HR Plus' corporate headquarters in Chicago.

HR Plus joins thousands of America's employers in pledging:

  • To fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
  • To assure their managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • To continually recognize and support our country's service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.

"HR Plus is honored to employ the men and women who are dedicated to serving our country," said Bill Tate, President, HR Plus. "We encourage other employers to become partners with military assistance groups to maximize their ability to recruit military personnel, their spouses and care givers, and support those who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom. The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is an excellent organization, providing a hiring platform for both military veterans and employers. Our company-wide military hiring program, Hire Our Heroes(SM), is an essential part of our recruiting strategy."

"On behalf of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, The Honorable Jessica Wright, I would like to thank HR Plus for signing this Statement of Support as a symbol of support of the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve. Many of our Guardsmen and Reservists would not be able to continue to serve in uniform, if not for the support of employers like HR Plus," said Dr. Michael Ayers, Ph.D., State Chair of the Illinois Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. "Today the National Guard and Reserve make up nearly half of the United States military. By signing a Statement of Support, HR Plus is acknowledging the continued importance of service in the National Guard and Reserve to the defense of our nation."

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law, and resolving conflicts through mediation. ESGR volunteers provide free education, consultation, and if necessary mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees. As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions that require extraordinary actions on the part of everyday citizens, ESGR will continue to be the informational agency for the employers of citizen warriors.
