HRH Crown Prince Philippe of Belgium to Address the Canadian Club of Toronto

WHO: HRH Crown Prince Philippe of Belgium

WHAT: Close ties exist between Belgium and Canada and bilateral
relations between the two countries have always been
excellent, not only on the political and economic level but
also on the social and cultural level. HRH Crown Prince
Philippe of Belgium will speak to the issue of
Belgian/Canadian relations and comment on some of the many
shared interests of the two nations.

BACKGROUND: Prince Philippe, born April 15, 1960, Duke of Brabant, is the
eldest son of Belgium's reigning Monarch King Albert II. The
Prince was educated at the Belgian Royal Military School, and
holds an undergraduate degree from Trinity College, Oxford
University and an MA in Political Science from Stanford
University. HRH has served in the Belgian military as both a
fighter pilot and parachutist and was appointed Major-General
and Rear Admiral in 2001.

Prince Philippe is married to Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz and
they have 3 children, Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel and
Prince Emmanuel.
