HTC Purenergy Announces New Cost Reduction Breakthrough for CO2 Capture

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - June 10, 2008) - HTC Purenergy (the "Corporation" or "HTC") (TSX VENTURE:HTC)(FRANKFURT:UII) today announced a new CO2 Capture cost reduction breakthrough - the Thermal Kinetics Optimization™ ("TKO") process. TKO will be added to the existing base Purenergy CCS™ CO2 Capture System and will substantially reduce the energy requirements of capturing CO2 from post-combustion coal and natural gas power plants.

The TKO process improves the CO2 Capture System through heat recovery, thermal balancing and optimized process flow. The primary advantage of this newly patented system is that it directly reduces the largest single cost of CO2 capture - the use of power plant steam - to a ratio of below 1 unit steam required to 1 unit CO2 captured.

HTC's Chairman & CEO - Lionel Kambeitz is quoted as saying "The new TKO process has shown to reduce steam consumption by up to 30%, which is a significant breakthrough in driving down the cost of CO2 capture compared to existing commercial technologies. HTC will be integrating the TKO process into its existing Purenergy CCS™ CO2 Capture System. This new Capture System enhancement will make HTC's Purenergy CCS™ CO2 Capture System a world leader in energy efficiency."

The Purenergy CCS™ CO2 Capture System is the world's first pre-engineered, pre-built and modularly constructed CO2 Capture System, which can be retrofitted on existing power plants or any large industrial greenhouse gas emitter facility. This carbon capture technology was developed in conjunction with the University of Regina's Green House Gas Technology Centre incorporating over 20 years of CO2 capture testing and product development.

HTC is globally commercializing its Purenergy CCS™ CO2 Capture Systems through its head office and technical services centre in Regina Saskatchewan, Canada with commercial offices in Brisbane (Australia), and Vermont (USA).

HTC Purenergy corporate developments can be followed on www.htcenergy.com and is traded under the symbol HTC.
