Hudson's Bay Company and US-Based Affiliate Lord & Taylor Join Forces With Customers and Associates to Donate $570,000 for Haitian Earthquake Relief Efforts

Donations to support Canadian and American Red Cross aid initiatives in Haiti

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 8, 2010) - Hudson's Bay Company announced today the results of its national 'Donate Your HBC Rewards Points' campaign in support of Haitian relief efforts, which raised $160,000. The funds are being donated to the Canadian Red Cross to help provide on-the-ground assistance, including evacuation support, shelter and first aid, to those affected by January's devastating earthquake.

From January 15, 2010 through to January 31, 2010, all 440 Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters locations across Canada offered its customers the opportunity to support relief efforts by donating their HBC Rewards points to the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake fund. Participation and the contributions made by Canadians across the country over the course of the campaign were overwhelming. In recognition of their generosity, and to add to the company's initial donation of $200,000 announced at the launch of the campaign, Hudson's Bay Company is also matching the consumer and associate contribution with an additional $160,000, bringing the company's total corporate donation to the Canadian Red Cross to $360,000.

"The support of our customers and associates from coast to coast has been truly inspiring," said Jeff Sherman, President and CEO of Hudson's Bay Company. "As an organization, we are proud to contribute to the global relief efforts in support of the millions of Haitians affected by the earthquake, and we would like to thank each and every member of the Hudson's Bay Company family – customers and associates alike – for their participation in this campaign."

In addition to Hudson's Bay Company's 'Donate Your Points' campaign in Canada, customers and associates at U.S.-based Lord & Taylor have donated more than $10,000 to relief efforts. To add to this contribution, the company has donated additional funds to bring the total amount to $50,000 which will be given to the American Red Cross for Haitian relief efforts.

"Funds raised are currently being used to support emergency relief efforts such as providing medical support, clean water, food and shelter. Funds raised will also be used to address the longer-term needs of affected communities as we begin to help them rebuild and recover," said Conrad Sauve, Secretary General and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross. "We are grateful to Hudson's Bay Company and Lord & Taylor for providing support and hope for those in Haiti who need it most."

Customers who wish to continue supporting the Haiti earthquake relief efforts may do so by visiting and registering their on-going commitment to the Canadian Red Cross through the HBC Rewards Community Program.
