Huerfano County Automates Bid Distribution With the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System

WALSENBURG, CO--(Marketwired - July 05, 2016) - Huerfano County announced today that it has joined the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System. BidNet's Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System helps local governments, such as Huerfano County, post, distribute and manage RFPs, quotes, addendums and awards online. The Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System provides notification to registered vendors of new bids related to their industry, any addenda and award information from 169 participating agencies from across Colorado.

Huerfano County joined the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System in June. There was a need for Huerfano County to automate the purchasing process to save time, increase competition and achieve cost savings over the traditional paper-based bid process. The Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System streamlines the creation and issuance of bid requests, supplier response submission and the awarding of bids. By providing a single, online location for managing sourcing information and activities, local Colorado government agencies minimize costs and time delays associated with the procurement process.

Huerfano County now has access to an extensive vendor pool, thereby enhancing competition without increasing distribution costs. In addition to the existing vendors on the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System, all vendors looking to do business with local government agencies can register online: Huerfano County invites all current vendors not already registered on the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System to do so today.

Registered vendors can access bids, related documents, addendum and award information. In addition, the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System offers a value-added alert service to notify vendors of new bids targeted to their industry, all addenda associated with those bids and advance notice of term contracts.

"We look forward to being able to improve our efficiency by using the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System. In addition to our time savings, our valued vendors can now access not only our open bids, but those from other municipalities, counties and school districts throughout the Colorado," says Paul Branson, Wildfire Mitigation Program Manager for Huerfano County.

Vendor benefits include:

  • Receive targeted bids
  • Receive bid deadline reminders
  • Notification of term contract expiration
  • Access a single point of entry for all participating agency bids
  • Contact a dedicated vendor support team

Vendors may register on the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System: Vendors may also contact BidNet's vendor support team at 800-835-4603 option 2 with any questions regarding registration or the bid system.

About Huerfano County:
Huerfano County, whose name comes from the Spanish huérfano meaning "orphan", was named for the Huerfano Butte, a local landmark. Previously the tribal lands of the Ute, Cheyenne and Arapaho, the county became one of the 17 original counties of the Territory of Colorado. Nestled between the twin Spanish Peaks and the Wet Mountains the land ranges from high elevation forests through canyons and mesas to expansive grasslands. It is rich with history from dinosaurs and Spanish Gold to cowboys and the Wild West. The area of Huerfano County boomed early in the 1900s with the discovery of large coal deposits. After large scale WWII coal demand ended in the 1940s the region saw a steady economic decline. Currently, through the hard work ethic and creativity that represents its citizens, Huerfano County is embracing new vitality in agriculture, power generation, tourism and forest industries. Other attractions include historic sites, majestic scenery, and endless outdoor adventures.
