Human Arc Acquires L&S Associates, Becomes Nation's Second Largest Privately Held Eligibility Firm

CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwire - Aug 22, 2012) - Human Arc, a leader in reimbursement and revenue enhancement services for hospitals and health plans across the U.S., has acquired L&S Associates (Lansing, MI). L&S is the leading supplier of Medicaid eligibility enrollment services to Michigan hospitals, and its DCS division provides Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Income enrollment services to qualified patients.

The acquisition doubles Human Arc's capacity to provide Medicaid and other program screening and enrollment services, making the company the nation's second largest privately held eligibility services firm.

Human Arc will maintain its corporate headquarters in Cleveland, as well as a regional office in Kansas City, Missouri, and L&S Associates will continue to operate out of its Lansing, Michigan, facilities. As a unified team with more than 600 employees and a service reach spanning the entire nation, Human Arc and L&S Associates are strategically poised to provide more clients in more markets with a broader array of solutions.

"L&S is impressive in its strengths and accomplishments," said Michael Baird, Human Arc founder and Chief Executive Officer. "We share similar missions and values and have like market approaches, so the decision to unite is one that will only enhance our service offerings and strengthen both of our teams. Leveraging each other's strengths, we are well positioned to reach our goal to favorably impact annually over a million uninsured, under-insured, aged and disabled people in need, the most at-risk populations that depend on our clients."

For L&S clients, the transition, while seamless, will offer new service advantages.

"L&S customers will receive the same high level of commitment and quality service from the same people," said Lynnette Rhodes, L&S founder and President. "In fact, one of the compelling characteristics of Human Arc is that its dedication to service quality and results mirrors the L&S business model. Among the advantages L&S clients will enjoy is the efficiencies of scale that result from combined information technology, including quicker account resolution, increased customer offerings and enhanced security. Supported by our unmatched technology, our ability to serve the hospital market will be more effective and efficient."
