Hunter Bay Minerals Commences Airborne Geophysical Survey at the Sela Creek Project

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - April 1, 2011) - Hunter Bay Minerals plc ("Hunter Bay") (TSX VENTURE:HBY) is pleased to announce the engagement of Terraquest Ltd. to perform an airborne geophysical survey at Hunter Bay's Sela Creek Project located in eastern Suriname. The airborne survey will provide Hunter Bay with aeromagnetic, radiometric and XDS VLF-EM data and will consist of 4,986 line kilometres at a spacing of 100 metres to cover the entire Sela Creek Project. Data acquisition is expected to take approximately 20 days to complete.

The purpose of the survey is to delineate structural anomalies, potential hydrothermal alteration and potential sulphide mineralization. Hunter Bay plans to follow up anomalies with ground based exploration including soil sampling, channel sampling and geological mapping to determine their relationship to gold mineralization.

Hunter Bay believes that the airborne survey, being a cost effective exploration technique, will be a valuable tool in target generation and will better define mineralized zones within the extensive area of alluvial and saprolite workings. Similar surveys elsewhere in the Guiana Shield have been successful in delineating exploration targets.

Andrew Tunningley, MAusIMM, a director of Hunter Bay, is a Qualified Person as defined in National Instrument 43-101 – Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects and is responsible for the work program on the Sela Creek Project. Mr. Tunningley has supervised and approved all technical information in this news release.
