Huntington Learning Center Celebrates American Education Week

Huntington Honors Educators, Parents, and All Citizens Who Support Student Learning

ORADELL, NJ--(Marketwire - Oct 18, 2012) - The week of November 11-17, 2012, Huntington Learning Centers nationwide will recognize American Education Week, a celebration of public education and the people who make a difference in ensuring every child receives a quality education. First observed in 1921, the National Education Association's American Education Week is now in its 91st year.

Huntington will join the National Education Association's daily observances throughout the week:

  • Monday, November 12: Veterans Day
  • Tuesday, November 13: Parents Day
  • Wednesday, November 14: Education Support Professionals Day
  • Thursday, November 15: Educator for a Day
  • Friday, November 16: Substitute Educators Day

"For 155 years, the National Education Association has worked to advocate for quality education for all students -- a mission that Huntington Learning Center stands behind," said Eileen Huntington, co-founder of Huntington Learning Center. "American Education Week is an important commemoration of the people and communities who believe in the importance of great education and work hard every day to give children the tools to succeed."

American Education Week was born when the National Education Association and the American Legion came together in 1919 to generate public support for education. The first observance of American Education Week was in December 1921.

In honor of American Education Week, Huntington Learning Centers across the country have planned activities to spotlight this awareness event in their communities and at their centers. "In our quest to give every child the best education possible, Huntington has always encouraged parent and community involvement, and this is a great opportunity for all of us to come together in the name of education," says Huntington. "Educating our people is key to our nation's success, and we are excited to show our support of American Education Week."
