Patrons Can Checkout and Download Popular Videos, Audio Books, and eBooks From Home

HUNTINGTON, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 5, 2007 -- Huntington Public Library is extending its
digital audio book and eBook collection, http://suffolk.lib.overdrive.com/,
to offer free, 24/7 access to downloadable videos.
With a valid library card, patrons can check out and download videos in
addition to popular audio books and eBooks to a personal computer and
transfer titles to supported portable devices to enjoy on the go! Video
titles can be transferred to devices such as Dell Pocket PCs or
Smartphones, and some audio books in the collection can even be burned to
CD to listen in the car or on any standard CD player.
Huntington Public Library joins an impressive group of library systems
offering the convenience of these materials and formats. "Giving patrons
the opportunity to checkout and download videos from the comfort of their
own home is an excellent addition to our eMedia collection," said Michael
Bogin, Assistant Director of the library. "Downloadable videos will
continue to help us grow interest and popularity with our digital
services."
The video collection includes a wide range of titles covering Sci-Fi
classics, children's stories, Spanish language, and travel. Patrons can
continue to check out best-selling audio and eBooks from popular authors
like Nora Roberts, James Patterson, and Meg Cabot.
The advantage of the digital media collection is the convenience of
automatic return. At the end of the 14 day lending period, digital titles
will expire from the patron's PC and be automatically checked in. Users
will never have to make unnecessary trips to the library or be concerned
with overdue fines and damage costs.
Huntington Public Library (http://hpl.suffolk.lib.ny.us/) partnered with
OverDrive, Inc.(www.overdrive.com), a Cleveland-based digital media company
to offer downloadable materials to patrons.
