HuntMountain Resources Provides 2006 Exploration Program Update

SPOKANE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 12, 2006 -- HuntMountain Resources (OTCBB: HNTM) is pleased to provide the following update of the Company's 2006 exploration programs.

Dun Glen Gold Project, Nevada

Exploration at Dun Glen has been ongoing since the project's acquisition by HuntMountain in February. Dun Glen represents a rare situation where a prolific Nevada mining district has yet to be tested by modern exploration techniques. Field work continues with an aggressive program of surface outcrop and soil sampling designed to verify previously recorded high-grade mineralization and identify additional zones of mineralization in untested areas. In addition, a geophysical survey is planned for early summer to identify the major structural components underlying Dun Glen. HuntMountain's exploration team is also conducting detailed geologic and structural mapping and is preparing to drill delineated targets by late summer.

Santa Cruz Properties, Argentina

HuntMountain's South American exploration team has reached the end of its first field season with the onset of winter in southern Patagonia. The team focused this season's program on the Gateado cateo and achieved its objectives by identifying a large mineralized epithermal system where surface sampling has verified an extensive gold anomaly. The property has been sufficiently sampled and mapped to generate multiple targets for the Company's initial drill program scheduled to occur in the 4th quarter of 2006. The South American geological staff will be redeployed to assist in HuntMountain's North American operations over the summer.

Abitibi Properties, Quebec

HuntMountain staff recently conducted a field survey on several prospective gold properties in Quebec's prolific Abitibi region. The survey was part of due diligence required to complete the acquisition of two properties through an option agreement with Montreal-based Diagnos, Inc. HuntMountain will announce the location of the properties following approval of the final agreement.

"We are pleased by the progress of our current exploration programs and have met or exceeded the objectives we set at the beginning of this field season," said President and Chairman Tim Hunt. "In addition to moving these properties forward, our management team will continue evaluating new exploration and advanced-stage projects that will provide opportunities for growth in shareholder value."

HuntMountain Resources is a U.S.-based junior exploration company engaged in acquiring, exploring and developing precious and base metals properties throughout North and South America. The Company currently holds properties in Nevada, Quebec, and Santa Cruz Province, Argentina.
