MILAN, ITALY and VIENNA, AUSTRIA--(Marketwire - Nov 29, 2012) - Hurricane Electric, the world's largest IPv6-native Internet backbone and a leading colocation provider, today announced that it is continuing its European expansion with new points-of-presence at MIX, located at Via Caldera 21 Building D, 20153 in Milano, Italy, and Interxion, located at Louis-Haefliger-Gasse 10, A-1210 in Vienna, Austria.
The new European connections -- Hurricane Electric's fourth European expansion this year -- will enable Hurricane Electric to improve fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management in its IP connectivity services, which includes transit of next-generation IPv6 traffic.
The new PoPs will expand access through 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and100BaseT network connections, and will reduce latency and router hops for MIX and Interxion traffic.
"We at Hurricane Electric are thrilled with the rapid expansion of our global network and are committed to providing unsurpassed next-generation IP connectivity to our clients and peers around the world," said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. "The expansion to these new locations will allow customers of MIX and Interxion to tap into the bandwidth and reach of Hurricane Electric's rich global network."
