HVAC Systems Just Got Better: Keen Home to Reveal Smart Air Filters at CES 2016

New Works With Nest Developer Introduces Smart Filters Featuring Commercial Grade 3M™ High Air Flow Filter Technology

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 6, 2016) - Keen Home, the IoT startup inventing proactive hardware and software for the self-sustained, connected home, is announcing the launch of their Air Purification System at the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show. The Keen Home Air Purification System features Smart Filters that easily snap into the Keen Home Smart Vents to help remove household contaminants like lint, household dust, dust mite debris, and mold spores.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, indoor air pollution is the top-ranked human health risk in the United States. Keen Home has created a Smart Filter solution to transform a homeowner's indoor air quality, featuring commercial grade materials by 3M™ to filter the air while still allowing high airflow.

Smart Filter Features Include:

  • Electrostatic filter technology to capture and retain particles
  • Low initial pressure drop to retain air flow
  • Antimicrobial agent helps inhibit the growth of mold and mildew on filter media
  • UL 900 flammability rating

How Keen Home's Smart Filters work:

  • Incorporating engineered 3M™ High Air Flow (HAF) technology that filters the air without overloading one's HVAC system
    • 3M™ HAF technology provides filtering with low initial pressure drop, helping to protect your heating/cooling performance and HVAC/furnace assets
  • Advanced filtration against common household contaminants like pollen, lint, household dust, dust mite debris, and mold spores
    • Antimicrobial properties inhibit growth of mold and mildew from growing on the filter media
  • Addition of carbon layer helps with odor removal
  • Real-time monitoring takes the guesswork out of knowing when to replace your Smart Filters -- Keen Home can automatically supply new filters using analysis of HVAC usage rates based on Smart Vent sensor data
  • Smart Filters last up to 120 days
  • Tool-free design makes changing filters a snap
  • Available for consumer purchase through the Keen Home website in early 2016
  • Pricing: $15/filter; $3/month/filter subscribe & save option

The addition of Smart Filter plays into the expansion of Keen Home's full-suite ecosystem, including the Smart Vent, Smart Bridge, and Keen Home app, with other connected products for the forgotten core functions of the home in the works.

At CES, Keen Home will also be announcing their integration with the Nest Learning Thermostat, as part of Nest Labs' Works with Nest developer program. Keen Home will join the group of best-in-class connected products in the Nest ecosystem as a premier HVAC vent developer.

"The Keen Home Smart Vent and Nest Thermostat are very complementary products," said Ryan Fant, Co-founder of Keen Home. "While you don't need a connected thermostat to use our Smart Vents, owners of Nest Thermostats will benefit from more control and better learning capabilities by connecting their Nest account to their Keen Home app."

The Smart Vent, which enables room-by-room temperature control throughout the home through intelligent airflow redirection, are currently available in 576 Lowe's across the U.S. and can integrate with the Lowe's Iris Smart Hub and the SmartThings Hub. Following last year's debut of the Smart Vent, Keen Home went on to receive one of the largest valuations in Shark Tank history from Robert Herjavec and was recognized as Mashable's 2015 Best of CES.

At CES, Keen Home will be exhibiting at:

  • Keen Home's booth, will have a fully connected home setup at booth #70647 in the Sands Expo Center, Level 2, Halls A-C
