Hx Technologies CEO to Teach About Imaging Exchange at SCAR 2006

Dr. Elliot Menschik Will Serve on the SCAR University Faculty Offering a Course for Radiologists and Imaging IT Professionals About Sharing Images Across Institutional Borders

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 18, 2006 -- Hx Technologies, Inc. (HxTI), a leading provider of imaging data exchanges, today announced that the Company's founder and CEO, Elliot Menschik, MD PhD, will teach radiologists and imaging IT professionals about cross-enterprise imaging exchange as part of the Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) 2006 Annual Meeting, to be held April 27-30, 2006 in Austin, Texas. The meeting's annual SCAR University has this year added a new course on imaging exchange to introduce attendees to the rapidly growing impact of health information exchange (HIE) and regional health information organizations (RHIOs) on the field of diagnostic imaging. Dr. Menschik will be offering an advanced course with a focus on how to facilitate imaging exchange between hospitals based on the experiences of the Philadelphia Health Information Exchange.

"While high-resolution imaging devices, digital archiving, and intra-enterprise integration have revolutionized workflow and diagnostic accuracy throughout the field over the last 10 years, the next generation of innovation is coming from cross-enterprise sharing of imaging that enhances safety and quality for the great numbers of patients who receive care across multiple providers and facilities," said Dr. Menschik. "SCAR continues to be the leading forum for educating professionals about the rapidly evolving field of imaging informatics, and I am pleased to serve on the SCAR U faculty as we introduce how imaging providers can leverage imaging exchanges to improve the quality of care while reducing the cost of providing it."

HxTI launched and operates the Philadelphia Health Information Exchange, the nation's first exchange of diagnostic imaging data, which was recently recognized by a leading independent research firm as one of only 7 functioning HIE/RHIOs in the United States. Funded by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Bioengineering, the Philadelphia Health Information Exchange serves as both a research platform and clinical tool for providing care to patients who move between the region's healthcare facilities.
