Hydro One strike: Kingston, Mississauga, Hamilton, Sarnia

Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, Energy Editor, News Editor, Tech/Telecomm Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 27, 2005) - Striking Hydro One energy professionals will picket at a number of special locations today.

"It's time for Premier McGuinty to show leadership," said Keith Rattai, Hydro One Local Vice President of the Society of Energy Professionals. "Ontario needs this dispute settled. Let's end the threat to system reliability. Tell Hydro One to take the concessions off the table and do a deal that doesn't include discriminatory wage schedules or working for free."

Meanwhile, an application by Ontario Power Generation to limit picketing will be heard in Hamilton.

Energy professionals employed by Hydro One have been on strike since June 1st, fighting Hydro One's unfair demands for a two-tier wage and benefit schedule that discriminates against younger professionals, and an effective 11 per cent cut in wages for most employees.
