Hydro One strikers to picket at Darlington Nuclear Station

Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, Energy Editor, News Editor, Tech/Telecomm Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 23, 2005) - Professional employees on strike at Hydro One will set up an information picket at Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.

"Employees at other Ontario Power Generation sites have told us that our fight is about them, too," said Keith Rattai, Local Vice President of the Society of Energy Professionals. "Together we'll tell Premier McGuinty he's got to clean up the mess Tom Parkinson's making at Hydro One."

WHERE: Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, off the 401, east of Oshawa (Waverly exit if travelling eastbound, Courtice if westbound)
WHEN: June 24, 2005; 5 a.m. to lunch

Commissioned in 1984, Darlington Nuclear Generating Station has a capacity of 3,524 megawatts of production-about 14 per cent of Ontario's peak summer demand.

The Society of Energy Professionals represents more than 6,000 professional employees in the electricity industry in Ontario, including engineers, scientists, supervisors, and others. The Society is Local 160 of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
