Hydro Ottawa Power Outage Update

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 27, 2009) - Hydro Ottawa continues to make good progress in its restoration efforts across the city. Approximately 130 customers throughout the city remain without power, primarily in small pockets of 10 customers or less. At the storm's peak, more than 10,000 customers were without power.

Restoration efforts are continuing in the Britannia and Shillington areas. In addition, outages that have impacted between one and 10 customers are scattered throughout the city. The causes of these outages range from damage to electrical equipment serving individual homes to transformer fuses that require replacement.

Hydro Ottawa personnel worked throughout the night on Sunday, and the utility continues to mobilize all available line crews to assist in the restoration efforts. Crews will continue to work throughout the day and evening until power is restored to all customers. Hydro Ottawa anticipates power will be restored to all customers by Monday night.

In order to ensure that all smaller localized outages have been identified, Hydro Ottawa is asking customers who are still without power to call their power outage information line at 613 738-0188 and speak to a live agent to report the outage.

Hydro Ottawa is working to restore power to all customers as quickly and safely as possible. The utility urges members of the public to maintain a safe distance from any fallen power lines and to report the location of fallen wires as soon as possible.
