Hydro Ottawa Restores Power Following Saturday's Severe Storm

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 28, 2009) - Hydro Ottawa is pleased to report that power has been restored to all customers impacted by Saturday's severe storm. Following nearly three days of around the clock restoration work, power was restored to the final impacted customers at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Strong winds on Saturday evening caused substantial damage to power lines, poles and other hydro related equipment. In total, more than 10,000 customers experienced outages as a result of the storm, with most having power restored by Sunday afternoon. Hydro Ottawa mobilized all available personnel on a rotational basis to restore power as quickly as possible.

Hydro Ottawa is aware of a few customers with damage to their individual premises, who are still without power. Power will be reconnected for these customers as soon as repair work is complete and inspections have been completed by the Electrical Safety Authority.

Hydro Ottawa would like to thank its customers for their patience and understanding during the restoration effort.
