Hygie™ Canada Limits the Spread of Nosocomial Infections (C. Difficile)

QUEBEC SME distances itself and makes a success of the impossible for Canada

BROSSARD, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 29, 2011) - Hygie wins top honours: The Montreal South Shore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has awarded Hygie the prestigious Innovation and technology Award of Excellence during the 27th annual Dominique-Rollin Gala.

"We are proud of our accomplishments and to have received these honours, but what matters most to us is seeing our technology being used to reduce the incidence of nosocomial infections, primarily C. difficile," said Éric Tanguay, President.

Since 2007, Hygie has offered a full range of innovative products intended to prevent and control infections by limiting the spread of bacteria, while making the work of health care professionals and at-home care givers tasks easier and safer. The company has differentiated itself from the competition through hy21, a patented technology that manages the biological liquids (excretas) in part responsible for nosocomial infections in hospitals. The technology was studied by two provincial organisms AETMIS (1)and DETMIS (2) of Chum from Montreal.

In the last four years, Hygie has been adopted by more than 85% of establishments in Quebec and by over 350 health centres across Canada. To improve the quality of life for patients receiving at-home care – and for those who provide it – 6 products in the hy21line are now sold in pharmacies. The increasing demand will generate a distribution through a 1,000 pharmacies, by the end of 2011, believes Éric Tanguay.

Our ultimate goal: To protect and reassure the patient while facilitating the work of care givers.
